The 31st annual Gala dinner of the Association Monegasque des Sommeliers
28 October, 2023 marked Monaco with a brilliant and prestigious event — The XXXI annual Gala dinner of the Association Monegasque des Sommeliers (AMS).
A marvellous event under the wing of Dominique Milardi, the President of the AMS, welcomed more than 300 guests, sommeliers and renowned chefs. Prince Albert II of Monaco as every year honoured AMS with his presence.
The evening started with a glamorous cocktail on a roof top of the Yacht Club, where nine chefs prepared their selection of delicious appetisers accompanied by Prince Henri d’Orléans Champagne, Cuvée Héritage 2006.
after the cocktail, fine wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape brightened up the evening — about four thousands of glasses been served during the night.
Six course menu dinner has been inspired and prepared by Simon Ganache, Chef of the Yacht Club with a precious participation of Lionel Compan, the Chef Sommelier of the YCM and a member of AMS.
The evening has been animated by «Roca team» beautiful dancers and the 150-prize ruffle took place followed by the modest check offered from the Association to the Prince Albert II Foundation to support their mission protecting of the Planetary health.
Among guests: Pietro Satanino, best sommelier in the world, and Fabrice Sommier, President of the Union of the Sommellerie Française.
I won’t exaggerate saying, that guests enjoyed the event till 2:30 am, and some stayed even longer sipping exclusive liqueurs and fine cigars at the panoramic terrace of the Yacht Club.
Interesting fact: Monegasque Association of Sommelier has its own Anthem, created by the Conductor of the Prince’s Carabineers under the great benevolence of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco. The Gala dinner of the AMS is definitely one of the main event for fine wine and slow food admirers.
2023 Gala serves as a springboard for the World General Assembly of Sommeliers which will take place from February 22 to 24 next year in the Principality of Monaco, under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco. It is internationally important and valuable event that will welcome best sommeliers from 68 countries.
The Monegasque Association of Sommeliers has more than 85 Members, making the Principality of Monaco — the Country with the most sommeliers per square kilometre.
